Our second big announced signing for the 2013 NFL Draft is DeWayne Cherrington from Mississippi State. Big is an understatement as DeWayne tips the scales around 330 pounds. He was a vital plug in the Mississippi State defensive line this year with some of his best performances coming against All SEC and All American offensive lineman. In fact, it's his effort in the big stage games that have the NFL scouts greatly intrigued.
DeWayne's story is a great one to tell. He's originally from Brooklyn, New York and came to live with his Grandmother and Aunt after the passing of his father. While working at Wall Mart for a brief period, DeWayne realized that he better take advantage of his natural athletic talents to get a college degree. By way of Junior College, DeWayne received a scholarship to Mississippi State and has never looked back since. He played behind first rounder Fletcher Cox his first year at Mississippi State and made a name for himself his second and senior year. DeWayne is a stock to watch as his value his pointed up big time. Agent Travis Martz has the following to say about DeWayne: "An NFL Scout tipped me off to DeWayne half way through the season because the scout knew how successful we are with SEC players. I watched some film and quickly realized God doesn't make many players like DeWayne. He has a massive frame, great upper body power and the ability to easily take on two blocker. After I met DeWayne in person and heard his story, I knew this is the exact type of client BA loves to help develop. He's a diamond in the rough that will play in the league for many years to come."
